Prayer of the Heart for 11/30/15

Today, I remember the thought “I am as God created me.” In this thought I place my trust. Whatever comes into my experience throughout my day’s journey, let me remember nothing can change what God created in His Love. For this, I offer my sincere gratitude.

Each day for our Healing Circle, we offer up Prayers of the Heart. You can share your prayers with us on our email group.

The Holiness of Healing

As we end The Song of Prayer we can think of it as a beginning for us all. Days after the events in Paris, many are still profoundly affected. Yet we can take refuge in the words in this last section. It is about how forgiveness, our aid to prayer, leads us to healing which is the ultimate blessing. As my husband, Rev. Paul, during our Healing Circle meditation on Sunday which was dedicated to Paris, indicated, forgiveness is our key to happiness. We may not be able to change the events that occurred, however, we can change our mind. It may seem difficult to do so but we are not alone in attempting this feat.

Our brothers are our salvation. They are our peace of mind if we so choose. At first, we must acknowledge honestly our feelings and not sweep them aside. It is easy to pretend we do not feel the anger or sadness because we want to be as stoic Course students. Forget that please. Do not remain stoic. Cry and be angry if you feel it within your being. Then, ask for assistance from the Holy Spirit.

As Jesus tells us, we first forgive (with Holy Spirit’s Help), then pray (praying gratitude and thanks to that we are as God created us to be), and then we are healed (we recognize our oneness with all). Let the light of forgiveness touch each and everyone. Those we fear and hate and those we love and embrace. Leave no one outside the healing circle of light. When we judge another, we are judging ourselves. Peace can come to our minds as we release the justification of fear.

What more words can I share as my words are meaningless. Only God gives us meaning. I only leave you with this from the end of The Song of Prayer.

Come unto Me, My children, once again, without such twisted thoughts upon your hearts. You still are holy with the Holiness which fathered you in perfect sinlessness, and still surrounds you with the Arms of peace. Dream now of healing. Then arise and lay all dreaming down forever. You are he your Father loves, who never left his home, nor wandered in a savage world with feet that bleed, and with a heavy heart made hard against the love that is the truth in you. Give all your dreams to Christ and let Him be your Guide to healing, leading you in prayer beyond the sorry reaches of the world.

Namaste,
Rev. Deb

  1. The Holiness of Healing

S-3.IV.1.               How holy are the healed! 2 For in their sight their brothers share their healing and their love. 3 Bringers of peace,–the Holy Spirit’s voice, through whom He speaks for God, Whose Voice He is,–such are God’s healers. 4 They but speak for Him and never for themselves. 5 They have no gifts but those they have from God. 6 And these they share because they know that this is what He wills. 7 They are not special. 8 They are holy. 9 They have chosen holiness, and given up all separate dreams of special attributes through which they can bestow unequal gifts on those less fortunate. 10 Their healing has restored their wholeness so they can forgive, and join the song of prayer in which the healed sing of their union and their thanks to God.

S-3.IV.2.               As witness to forgiveness, aid to prayer, and the effect of mercy truly taught, healing is blessing. 2 And the world responds in quickened chorus through the voice of prayer. 3 Forgiveness shines its merciful reprieve upon each blade of grass and feathered wing and all the living things upon the earth. 4 Fear has no haven here, for love has come in all its holy oneness. 5 Time remains only to let the last embrace of prayer rest on the earth an instant, as the world is shined away. 6 This instant is the goal of all true healers, whom the Christ has taught to see His likeness and to teach like Him.

S-3.IV.3.               Think what it means to help the Christ to heal! 2 Can anything be holier than this? 3 God thanks His healers, for He knows the Cause of healing is Himself, His Love, His Son, restored as His completion and returned to share with Him creation’s holy joy. 4 Do not ask partial healing, nor accept an idol for rememberance of Him Whose Love has never changed and never will. 5 You are as dear to Him as is the whole of His creation, for it lies in you as His eternal gift. 6 What need have you for shifting dreams within a sorry world? 7 Do not forget the gratitude of God. 8 Do not forget the holy grace of prayer. 9 Do not forget forgiveness of God’s Son.

S-3.IV.4.               You first forgive, then pray, and you are healed. 2 Your prayer has risen up and called to God, Who hears and answers. 3 You have understood that you forgive and pray but for yourself. 4 And in this understanding you are healed. 5 In prayer you have united with your Source, and understood that you have never left. 6 This level cannot be attained until there is no hatred in your heart, and no desire to attack the Son of God.

S-3.IV.5.               Never forget this; it is you who are God’s Son, and as you choose to be to him so are you to yourself, and God to you. 2 Nor will your judgment fail to reach to God, for you will give the role to Him you see in His creation. 3 Do not choose amiss, or you will think that it is you who are creator in His place, and He is then no longer Cause but only an effect. 4 Now healing is impossible, for He is blamed for your deception and your guilt. 5 He Who is Love becomes the source of fear, for only fear can now be justified. 6 Vengeance is His. 7 His great destroyer, death. 8 And sickness, suffering and grievous loss become the lot of everyone on earth, which He abandoned to the devil’s care, swearing He will deliver it no more.

S-3.IV.6.               Come unto Me, My children, once again, without such twisted thoughts upon your hearts. 2 You still are holy with the Holiness which fathered you in perfect sinlessness, and still surrounds you with the Arms of peace. 3 Dream now of healing. 4 Then arise and lay all dreaming down forever. 5 You are he your Father loves, who never left his home, nor wandered in a savage world with feet that bleed, and with a heavy heart made hard against the love that is the truth in you. 6 Give all your dreams to Christ and let Him be your Guide to healing, leading you in prayer beyond the sorry reaches of the world.

S-3.IV.7.               He comes for Me and speaks My Word to you. 2 I would recall My weary Son to Me from dreams of malice to the sweet embrace of everlasting Love and perfect peace. 3 My Arms are open to the Son I love, who does not understand that he is healed, and that his prayers have never ceased to sing his joyful thanks in unison with all creation, in the holiness of Love. 4 Be still an instant. 5 Underneath the sounds of harsh and bitter striving and defeat there is a Voice that speaks to you of Me. 6 Hear this an instant and you will be healed. 7 Hear this an instant and you have been saved.

S-3.IV.8.               Help Me to wake My children from the dream of retribution and a little life beset with fear, that ends so soon it might as well have never been. 2 Let Me instead remind you of eternity, in which your joy grows greater as your love extends along with Mine beyond infinity, where time and distance have no meaning. 3 While you wait in sorrow Heaven’s melody is incomplete, because your song is part of the eternal harmony of love. 4 Without you is creation unfulfilled. 5 Return to Me Who never left My Son. 6 Listen, My child, your Father calls to you. 7 Do not refuse to hear the Call for Love. 8 Do not deny to Christ what is His Own. 9 Heaven is here and Heaven is your home.

S-3.IV.9.               Creation leans across the bars of time to lift the heavy burden from the world. 2 Lift up your hearts to greet its advent. 3 See the shadows fade away in gentleness; the thorns fall softly from the bleeding brow of him who is the holy Son of God. 4 How lovely are you, child of Holiness! 5 How like to Me! 6 How lovingly I hold you in My Heart and in My Arms. 7 How dear is every gift to Me that you have made, who healed My Son and took him from the cross. 8 Arise and let My thanks be given you. 9 And with My gratitude will come the gift first of forgiveness, then eternal peace.

S-3.IV.10.             So now return your holy voice to Me. 2 The song of prayer is silent without you. 3 The universe is waiting your release because it is its own. 4 Be kind to it and to yourself, and then be kind to Me. 5 I ask but this; that you be comforted and live no more in terror and in pain. 6 Do not abandon Love. 7 Remember this; whatever you may think about yourself, whatever you may think about the world, your Father needs you and will call to you until you come to Him in peace at last.

I. True Prayer – Part 2

I. True Prayer (Paragraphs 5-7)

Our study of The Song of Prayer

The first sentence in paragraph 5 speaks to me again and again when I read this. "Prayer is a stepping aside; a letting go, a quiet time of listening and loving." In this, I step away from what I think I need, and I let go of all my desired outcomes and come silently join with the Holy Spirit. In this I experience His Love and Peace. In this form of True Prayer, I am remembering the truth of Who I am. I come to know my holiness and my wholeness. Something I do not think about every single moment, especially when I am in pain. Yet when I come gently to Him I am reminded of such. I come with no needs at all. I come with gratitude. I come as I am. I come to be showered with His Love.

Jesus tells us here that not everyone can attain that level of prayer yet that should not make us anxious. We are where we are and he has assured us of that previously. No need to force ourselves along the path. Accept where we are and the rest will fall into place. When I am in the shade of darkness i can trust that another will raise me up to God merely by believing as so. I may not believe as so in the moment, but through another our minds being joined is powerful.

The only prayer is one of thanks and more than that it is a gift of thanks to our Father. We have everything and we have no need to be beggars for His Love. When I know this as true, and yes, I have had those times, it is a glorious feeling of being in the Light of Christ. When we join together we are in the Light of Christ because we are the Light of Christ. Amen and amen.

I. True Prayer, under 1. Prayer in THE SONG OF PRAYER

S-1.I.5.  Prayer is a stepping aside; a letting go, a quiet time of listening and loving. 2 It should not be confused with supplication of any kind, because it is a way of remembering your holiness. 3 Why should holiness entreat, being fully entitled to everything Love has to offer? 4 And it is to Love you go in prayer. 5 Prayer is an offering; a giving up of yourself to be at one with Love. 6 There is nothing to ask because there is nothing left to want. 7 That nothingness becomes the altar of God. 8 It disappears in Him.

S-1.I.6.  This is not a level of prayer that everyone can attain as yet. 2 Those who have not reached it still need your help in prayer because their asking is not yet based upon acceptance. 3 Help in prayer does not mean that another mediates between you and God. 4 But it does mean that another stands beside you and helps to raise you up to Him. 5 One who has realized the goodness of God prays without fear. 6 And one who prays without fear cannot but reach Him. 7 He can therefore also reach His Son, wherever he may be and whatever form he may seem to take.

S-1.I.7.  Praying to Christ in anyone is true prayer because it is a gift of thanks to His Father. 2 To ask that Christ be but Himself is not an entreaty. 3 It is a song of thanksgiving for what you are. 4 Herein lies the power of prayer. 5 It asks nothing and receives everything. 6 This prayer can be shared because it receives for everyone. 7 To pray with one who knows that this is true is to be answered. 8 Perhaps the specific form of resolution for a specific problem will occur to either of you; it does not matter which. 9 Perhaps it will reach both, if you are genuinely attuned to one another. 10 It will come because you have realized that Christ is in both of you. 11 That is its only truth.

4/28 – Teaching Tuesdays – Healing Thoughts

HealingCircle2015
Healing Thought for April 28th

Today, I accept my ministry today of sharing Love with everyone I meet.

Yet when we can, we will observe our trust as ministers of God, in hourly remembrance of our mission and His Love. And we will quietly sit by and wait on Him and listen to His Voice, and learn what He would have us do the hour that is yet to come; while thanking Him for all the gifts He gave us in the one gone by. ~Lesson 153

I Won’t Back Down

This is probably one of my favorite episodes from my former "I am Entitled to Miracles!" Radio Show. I just happened to be listening to our radio station and there it was. I was teaching what I needed to learn. You might receive insight and wisdom as well. I hope you enjoy it!

Ep. 30 – I Won't Back Down

As Tom Petty sings, "You can stand me up at the gates of hell but I won't back down." Rev. Deb shares her own personal examples of how we can stand in truth and not submit to the ego's fears no matter the witnesses of it that confront us. We stand on holy ground with God and in His Love. Stand in God's strength and truth and you will always be at peace.

Get Rid of Peace?

That is exactly what this week’s reading was asking us. Would you really want to throw away peace? We say “No” but we do it all the time! This week’s reading has been in Chapter 19, IV. The Obstacles to Peace, A. The First Obstacle: The Desire to Get Rid of It. Whew, long title, right? Jesus really wants us to see that we have a desire for anything but peace. Peace is simple. We make a change of mind. We empty the fear, attack and judgment thoughts and voila! Peace! Not so easy it seems as it is demonstrated by how we feel and our resulting actions.

There is that ego part of us that wants to clutch on to the grievances with others and with ourselves. I know my past week (yeah, again) has been that. Clawing and clutching onto fear. When I grab onto that fear, it only increases. The very thing I say I don’t want, fear, is the very thing that barrels its way towards me.

You see, the desire to get rid of peace creeps in so slowly. Watch your language, what is it that you say?

It’s too quiet here something is bound to happen.

There’s always a calm before the storm.

When’s the other shoe going to drop?

We keep peace at bay. We keep it in the future. I’ll be at peace, WHEN, whatever the WHEN is to you. We keep peace away because of fear and wanting to be safe and secure, yet that fear driving us is literally driving us to hell and then some!

How mighty can a little feather be before the great wings of truth? Can it oppose an eagle’s flight, or hinder the advance of summer? Can it interfere with the effects of summer’s sun upon a garden covered by the snow? See but how easily this little wisp is lifted up and carried away, never to return, and part with it in gladness, not regret. For it is nothing in itself, and stood for nothing when you had greater faith in its protection. Would you not rather greet the summer sun than fix your gaze upon a disappearing snowflake, and shiver in remembrance of the winter’s cold?

We can think about this differently. That’s where we go to the subsection, The Attraction of Guilt, for one of my favorite passages in relation to what messengers do we send forth. This is how we can learn to keep the peace.

Any guilt that we feel produces fear of love. Remember that guilt is the guilt that we believe we are separated from God and that we have taken horrible strikes against Him. Yet love and peace is embedded in our memory. It is there. It cannot be taken away. We can follow the dictates of fear’s voice and most often we do.

When we listen and follow fear’s voice, we trumpet this fear outward. Toot, toot, toot, “Send out the fear” is the message to our kingdom. Fear is released and as Jesus so brilliantly paints the picture here, fear is as hungry dogs, looking for scraps of guilt, hungry and pouncing on every bit of guilt and fear that they can scrummage. They are frantic and in pain, knowing that it is only this they must return to their lord and master.

The imagery here is amazing and I remember first reading this section many moons ago and how it painted such an indelible picture in my mind. It was the perfect reading for this week as I realized my own fear and guilty thoughts were behind the skeletal witnesses that stepped forth, handing to me their silver platters of guilt and their mighty conquests of judgment.

It was not the witnesses fault. It was my own for first I portrayed this destructible scene in my own mind. They merely took their places and on their mark for this period drama of hatred, my own self-hatred.

In reading this throughout the week with our study classes and the radio show, I was able to be reborn in the words. No, it was not reborn in fear, but in love and peace. I learned (again) the power of Holy Spirit and His messengers of Love. Holy Spirit is loving, kind and gentle with me. He is a True Friend when everyone else seems to abandon you. You can always count on His Love to surround you, no matter the circumstances. You are safe in Him. The winds of hate may blow and whip wickedly around you, yet there in the center of it all is Love. Love can be trusted. Love is what sets you free.

All is as it should be. The lessons come for me at the perfect time and when they are needed, or if even simply reminded to me when the road ahead seems bleak. Ignore the naysayers of the ego, and trust in the glowing witnesses to Love who always offer me grace, just by that simple shift to a miracle.

Listen now to that softly joyous whispering that tells you too of the truth. Listen and be glad.

Hide and Seek

The days of hiding from love are over. As we saw in June’s readings, our fear is that of God and His Love. We have chosen this world in which to hide and whilst here we seek for comfort from any source we can find it, except of course from our One Source. As I think of the readings from last month, here are additional thoughts that came into view for me.

There are other ways or you could say other layers in the world that we hide without realizing we are doing so. We hide behind our face of innocence protesting that we are the victim of another’s words and actions. We hide behind symbols and most used are that of “words.” We use them to confound and confuse. We use them as a façade to show the smile yet beneath is our seething hate for another. We hide from truth and refuse to connect with our brothers and sisters here, let alone Holy Spirit, Jesus and God.

We mask our truth only in self-deception. These days it can be as email or Facebook in an avoidance to speak directly. I was reading some article that I do not recall that described how vicious people can be these days with comments on websites such as CNN and other websites. Typically things that they would not say but saying it as they hide behind anonymity and the internet. We regale our hate yet inside we are fearful of conflict.

In all as I have been sharing in our Sunday series on the Characteristics of God’s Teachers, we must focus on the foundation of Trust. Because we do not trust, we lash out and build the brick walls between us. Instead let us build our trust by letting go of what is valueless here. Is being “right” of value? Is being a “victim” of value? It happens so subtly that we do not even realize it. Then to justify we do what I call “Course-ifying”. We say what we do with pure hatred and fear but we use the pretty words of the Course to do so. All the while not really saying anything at all. Hide and seek. What are we seeking but more fear when we do this?

Sure I have done it, you have too. I know for some time now I try to be as direct as possible. And you know, people don’t like direct communication. We avoid it as it makes us uncomfortable. I was there too. Heart to heart communication sets us free. But let us go back to building trust because when we build that trust and we are firm in our convictions and firm in our truth, we have no reason to hide. We let go of the valueless through our willingness and forgiveness.

When we are in solid trust, then we speak directly with honesty to anyone and everyone. We are not afraid and remain consistent in the truth. Remember what Jesus says “honesty” means in the Characteristics? It means consistency, “no word belies your thought” as they are in alignment. People can see through the illusion there, but not through the illusion of this world because we enjoy hiding here too much. We like the thrill of the game. Instead, let us release our judgments as we recognize the truth and freedom is ours.

Our minds have been sick as we believed everything that is not true. We placed blame on everyone else: family, friends, co-workers, significant others, co-workers, organizations, political parties, countries and societies, oh wait there’s more! Instead, let us own responsibility for our own mind’s thoughts and choices. Drop the veil!

We can be saved. There is a cure. That cure is God’s Love. It matters not what mistakes we have made. There is always forgiveness, hope and peace available to us.

At times we fall on our own sword when we need not. We judge ourselves just as mercilessly as we judge others. Most times we blame others. If we could accept that a mistake is a mistake is a mistake, whether it is in regards to others or ourselves, then we would see the light of love. We would breathe easier and a smile would come so ever gently to our face.

Happiness is our function. We were created in joy. Why allow the weight of the world, the stones of indecision, the boulders of insecurity and the mountains of self-judgment to continue to hold us back from the golden stream of Light. That stream is the way home that Jesus offers us.

Jesus encourages you and I to follow the glorious Light. He supports us endlessly so why continue to refuse his help? I know you have seen his help. You have had glimpses whether it is in the pages of A Course in Miracles, or those who have  entered into your life of which you pushed away because of your own fear. Push back no longer. Accept the Love and the Holy Help that surrounds you eternally.

Even if you have turned it away before, perhaps many times, NOW is the time. The hand is extended, be no longer afraid of the dark, take that hand and rise into a new dawn. The Light has touched you and you will never forget your True Home.
