Miracle Toolbox Week 22 | Holy Spirit’s Forgiveness Caliper

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to week 22 of our Miracle Toolbox healing journey. This week’s video recording continues to build on what we have been learning over the past several weeks regarding The Ladder of Prayer, our perception of “enemies”, and the light of forgiveness. Anytime we feel irritation, anger, resentment, hatred, fear, avoidance, etc. toward another person, we have perceived an “enemy” with our mind and personal belief system. When this happens, we are stuck on a lower rung of The Ladder of Prayer, and therefore the Holy Spirit’s Forgiveness Caliper needs to come into play.

Jesus explains in Chapter 2. FORGIVENESS of The Song of Prayer that forgiveness is prayer’s ally and is the greatest help that God ordained to be with us until we awaken. It is the one and only illusion within the dream that will help us to fully awaken from the dream. Each time that we turn to the Holy Spirit to help us learn how to practice true forgiveness, we close the caliper gap of separation within our minds. It is the Holy Spirit’s job to continue to help us close the caliper gap of separation until the gap is completely gone. When this happens, we will have fully awakened to the realization of Who We Really Are!

A fantastic tool for helping us to forgive our perception of “enemies”, and to manifest the experience of true forgiveness, is LESSON 121: Forgiveness is the key to happiness (W-121). This tool and meditation practice is a must-have in every serious Course student’s Miracle Toolbox. Whenever you feel the slightest irritation or uneasiness about anyone, it is time to step back and take some time to practice applying this lesson while in meditation. With practice, you will discover the magnificent healing power of this lesson and its ability to quickly free you from misery and restore your sense of peace, safety, and joy.

Blessings from the Light,

Rev. Paul

Skeletons in the Closet (Shake, Rattle, and Roll)

From Rev. Deb’s Unity Radio Show:

It’s that haunting time of year! You don’t have to be afraid of the “bumps in the night” that occur from the thoughts of the past. Let’s shove those skeletons back in the closet where they belong and roll along in peace with the Holy Spirit. Rev. Deb shares a recent personal story of doing just that. As A Course in Miracles says, “Children perceive frightening ghosts and monsters and dragons, and they are terrified. Yet if they ask someone they trust for the meaning of what they perceive, and are willing to let their own interpretations go in favor of reality, their fear goes with them. When a child is helped to translate his ‘ghost’ into a curtain, his ‘monster’ into a shadow, and his ‘dragon’ into a dream he is no longer afraid, and laughs happily at his own fear.”

Thoughts on Week 36, Text, Ch. 20, VI. The Temple of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit’s temple is not a body, but a relationship.

When I reflect on relationships in my past, marriages or friendships or otherwise, I can admit to myself there was a smack of idolatry as Jesus speaks of here. Now, it’s not that I worshipped someone else, but when we look at the idolatry, it is putting someone else above us. I held some people and created an agenda that there was to be no mistakes, and really it was to have them worship me. Yikes!

Turning this over to the Holy Spirit changes this. I no longer make others responsible for my feelings, my emotions, my needs and anything else I would dream up. I am responsible for the own choices and decisions I have made in my life. Blame disappears. Darkness is lifted. Simply, I remove the body from the equation and receive eternal blessing. This blessing comes from the knowledge so simply we are One.

It is this simple. The barriers I put up are long and winding before my brothers and sisters in the world. With each tick of truth, another barrier disintegrates and here I am opening my mind more and more to the true relationship.

Here is the way to true relationships held gently open, through which you and your brother walk together, leaving the body thankfully behind and resting in the Everlasting Arms. Love’s Arms are open to receive you, and give you peace forever.

Thoughts on Week 31, Chapter 18. II. The Basis of the Dream

Dreams are perceptual temper tantrums, in which you literally scream, “I want it thus!”  And thus it seems to be.

That’s this dream we live in. We want it our way and we want it now! We blot out what is truth so we can have that substitute reality. We also do not want to take responsibility for the world for you see it all begins with a thought in the mind. What we see outside of us, is what is internal. All of our fear and hatred is played out on the stage. We manipulate the players and they do as we wish. And we protest to this idea and shake our heads, “No way, I don’t do that.”

We do. I do. Everything I believed about myself, self-hatred and its collection, came to me in my “world.” The abuse, the hatred, all of it were there on my stage, and because I believed it all to be true. I’m speaking of the beliefs I held deeply in my mind about myself here. I wrote the script and my performers acted it out. The same occurred when I began to heal my mind. The players of pain were gone. Now, I have more peace in my life with troupe, Players of Peace (sounds like a good name, eh?).

It was because I saw through the dream of denial, pain and guilt and into what Holy Spirit was sharing with me instead. He used my dreams, to show me what joy and freedom I could attain. He blessed me in this way and my life was experienced differently. Do challenges still head down my street? Sure, they do, but I don’t get into an accident with them now. I gently steer away into safety. That’s what living this Course every minute of the day does for us, we are in peace and safety.

Thoughts on Week 15, Text, Chapter 8, VIII. The Body as a Means or End

Chapter 8  VIII. The Body as a Means or End

“If you are sick, how can you object to the ego’s firm belief that you are not invulnerable?”

“Sickness is a way of demonstrating that you can be hurt.”

My belief in sickness keeps me in the illusory world. I feel vulnerable and thoughts of being maimed or harmed occur, even death. If I focus on the body, this chassis I walk around in and fear all the sickness around me then I will not be obviously listening to the Holy Spirit’s Voice.

Someone has a cold or flu, we take notice. A terminal illness, we take notice. We don’t want either the germ or death to darken our doorstep. We want to protect what is ours, this “sacred” temple that we adorn and worship dearly.

It is not the function that the Holy Spirit intends. Holy Spirit uses everything here for His purpose. My job is to recognize that. The ego will give me conflicting guidance and always to uphold itself in one way or another. Let my body be used for His healing and the healing of others and it will serve its only purpose.

Buy not into vulnerability. Be willing to listen to the Voice that speaks to you now.

You are open to hearing My message, so listen well. Allow the body to be the means by which the Sonship returns to Wholeness. You are doing your part. You know you are when the witnesses appear and share in your message. It is My message that you share. They are affirmed of Truth. They see reality. Be not ashamed of this. Be proud to be the Son of God. My message you deliver. Deliver it gladly and with Joy. You will hear me more as your willingness increases and multiplies. Health is your natural state with Me. There is no sickness in the realm of God. You dreamt of illness and death but now use the dream of forgiveness to wake you from your nightmares. Tell your brothers that they too dream. Demonstrate My Love in all you do. Listen and Be well.

Prayer of the Heart for 11/24/15

My mind has been asleep to the truth. I am awakening, albeit a little groggy and disoriented, yet the Light of God is seen. The Light calls me forth and away from the dream of nothingness. I am not alone for You are with me. To You, I offer thanks.

Each day for our Healing Circle, we offer up Prayers of the Heart. You can share your prayers with us on our email group.

False versus True Healing

False healing merely makes a poor exchange of one illusion for a “nicer” one; a dream of sickness for a dream of health.

This is probably what feels most difficult to us in looking at ACIM’s view of healing. With so many concepts and principles and modalities that are here in the world in reference to healing, it still can confound us that this is still all a dream. But it is true, sick or healthy, the body is an illusion. True healing is forgiveness showing us that we are more than what we see with the body’s eyes and the body’s other senses and experiences.

In the Text, we have learned that the body is merely a tool of which we can put in service to the ego or the Holy Spirit. Here we see again the body has been used by us as a home as we remember our true home. We do not curse the body, but we thank it. It has provided us a service and nothing more. Thank you body for allowing me to learn all that I needed to learn to remember my true nature.

In this section, Jesus also speaks of death. Traditionally, we see death differently. It is not what we think. It is not something to fear. We are not held fast by the body, nor is our identity held fast in it. We are something so much more.

This is why the higher prayer comes into play. It is to remind us that we are above the body, above the illusion and only as God created us to be, as an extension of His Holy Self. Healing is complete. It is done. It does not need to be repeated. (See the Manual for Teachers above this)

As you see, it always comes down to forgiveness. FOR GIVING LOVE, is sometimes how I see  it. The quote here: Forgiveness is the only gift you give and would receive. Forgiveness helps us to see beyond the body and into the eternal. The eternal is Love, and so I am only seeing, giving and receiving that Love.

What does this section say to me in my life now?

With my recent illness of bronchitis and my diagnosis earlier in the year of Fibromyalgia, it shows me to see beyond what I am witnessing in my body. Certainly I follow doctor’s instructions, take medications, herbs and supplements as needed, yet too believing this body is not the truth of Who I am. It is carrying me through this world so I may have the experiences I am to have, so I can remember I am my Father’s Child.

That in itself brings me peace.

  1. False versus True Healing

S-3.II.1. False healing merely makes a poor exchange of one illusion for a “nicer” one; a dream of sickness for a dream of health. 2 This can occur at lower forms of prayer, combining with forgiveness kindly meant but not completely understood as yet. 3 Only false healing can give way to fear, so sickness will be free to strike again. 4 False healing can indeed remove a form of pain and sickness. 5 But the cause remains, and will not lack effects. 6 The cause is still the wish to die and overcome the Christ. 7 And with this wish is death a certainty, for prayer [is] answered. 8 Yet there is a kind of seeming death that has a different source. 9 It does not come because of hurtful thoughts and raging anger at the universe. 10 It merely signifies the end has come for usefulness of body functioning. 11 And so it is discarded as a choice, as one lays by a garment now outworn.

S-3.II.2. This is what death should be; a quiet choice, made joyfully and with a sense of peace, because the body has been kindly used to help the Son of God along the way he goes to God. 2 We thank the body, then, for all the service it has given us. 3 But we are thankful, too, the need is done to walk the world of limits, and to reach the Christ in hidden forms and clearly seen at most in lovely flashes. 4 Now we can behold Him without blinders, in the light that we have learned to look upon again.

S-3.II.3. We call it death, but it is liberty. 2 It does not come in forms that seem to be thrust down in pain upon unwilling flesh, but as a gentle welcome to release. 3 If there has been true healing, this can be the form in which death comes when it is time to rest a while from labor gladly done and gladly ended. 4 Now we go in peace to freer air and gentler climate, where it is not hard to see the gifts we gave were saved for us. 5 For Christ is clearer now; His vision more sustained in us; His Voice, the Word of God, more certainly our own.

S-3.II.4. This gentle passage to a higher prayer, a kind forgiveness of the ways of earth, can only be received with thankfulness. 2 Yet first true healing must have come to bless the mind with loving pardon for the sins it dreamed about and laid upon the world. 3 Now are its dreams dispelled in quiet rest. 4 Now its forgiveness comes to heal the world and it is ready to depart in peace, the journey over and the lessons learned.

S-3.II.5. This is not death according to the world, for death is cruel in its frightened eyes and takes the form of punishment for sin. 2 How could it be a blessing, then? 3 And how could it be welcome when it must be feared? 4 What healing has occurred in such a view of what is merely opening the gate to higher prayer and kindly justice done? 5 Death is reward and not a punishment. 6 But such a viewpoint must be fostered by the healing that the world cannot conceive. 7 There is no partial healing. 8 What but shifts illusions has done nothing. 9 What is false cannot be partly true. 10 If you are healed your healing is complete. 11 Forgiveness is the only gift you give and would receive.

S-3.II.6. False healing rests upon the body’s cure, leaving the cause of illness still unchanged, ready to strike again until it brings a cruel death in seeming victory. 2 It can be held at bay a little while, and there can be brief respite as it waits to take its vengeance on the Son of God. 3 Yet it cannot be overcome until all faith in it has been laid by, and placed upon God’s substitute for evil dreams; a world in which there is no veil of sin to keep it dark and comfortless. 4 At last the gate of Heaven opens and God’s Son is free to enter in the home that stands ready to welcome him, and was prepared before time was and still but waits for him.

Responsibility for Sight, Pt. 1

I am back to posting on our weekly readings. This month’s theme is “Roll the Stone Away” and yes, just the Easter theme we all need, don’t you think? I invite our students and team members to share their insights as well as our MiraclesOne community of ACIM students.

This week we start with Chapter 21, II. The Responsibility for Sight.

Before I get into actual sections of the reading let me share my preliminary thoughts. When I think of the idea of the month “Roll the Stone Away” it means that I have been blocked in some way from my true sight. With the boulder in place, I cannot see the beyond it’s stone wall. But as I work with Jesus in rolling the stone away I will see that I put the stone there in the first place!

1.            We have repeated how little is asked of you to learn this course. 2 It is the same small willingness you need to have your whole relationship transformed to joy; the little gift you offer to the Holy Spirit for which He gives you everything; the very little on which salvation rests; the tiny change of mind by which the crucifixion is changed to resurrection. 3 And being true, it is so simple that it cannot fail to be completely understood. 4 Rejected yes, but not ambiguous. 5 And if you choose against it now it will not be because it is obscure, but rather that this little cost seemed, in your judgment, to be too much to pay for peace.

Jesus tells me that he continuously tells me that it only takes that tiny bit of willingness to have the resurrection from the self-imposed nails. I have chosen against it in numerous ways. I have chosen crucifixion for myself and others. I have willed attack be my focus. Yet, I can give up everything in that instant that I realize I desire not its blood stained sight any longer. I have to ask myself “Do I want pain or joy?” It is really that simple. Somehow in my life there were many times I felt very deserving of the pain rather than joy. My own state of guilt, my own “not good enough” beliefs about myself, my self-attack, my defense, all of it drives the nails further in. The cross is hung and then my state of mind is taken down and put in a tomb.

I can awaken from this dream of darkness. That’s what ACIM helps us to do, to awaken from the dream that “I am mortal, fallible and full of sin, and know I am the perfect Son of God.” That is what forgiveness does. I feel blessed to have seen it work in my life with family and multiple marriages and low self-worth and zero confidence. It all comes to becoming responsible for every aspect that I see and experience. If you too want an escape, read our next paragraph that Jesus shares.

T-21.II.2.              This is the only thing that you need do for vision, happiness, release from pain and the complete escape from sin, all to be given you. 2 Say only this, but mean it with no reservations, for here the power of salvation lies:

3 I am responsible for what I see.

4 I choose the feelings I experience, and I decide upon the goal I would achieve.

5 And everything that seems to happen to me I ask for, and receive as I have asked.

6 Deceive yourself no longer that you are helpless in the face of what is done to you. 7 Acknowledge but that you have been mistaken, and all effects of your mistakes will disappear.

So do you want to see clearly? Want a happy life? Want to feel joy? Want to release the boulder from your mind? This prayer is what does it for you. Jesus has done all the heavy lifting for us. We just need to be willing to claim it. But the catch is we have to realize our own responsibility for it all. Everything we see and experience comes from our own mind. We choose our reactions to what is occurring. And if our intention deep down is for pain, then that is what we receive. If it is for joy, then that is what we receive. I remember this in relation to when my daughters were molested 14 years ago. I came upon this section yet again, but this time it upset me greatly. How could I be responsible for letting that happen to them. You’ve got to be kidding me Jesus! But when I did some self-reflection I had to see that on some level because of how I felt about myself, the deep seated hatred and abuse of myself, I made the conditions for the very pain and abuse to be done to me, and this was the third marriage at that time. I certainly didn’t consciously choose any of this. Let’s be clear about that. If the GPS system is set in the mind to pain then it will drive me to pain. With this prayer we can recalculate to a arrival point of joy.

Certainly at that time in my life it was gravely painful. Yet, I was able to be radically honest, forgive myself and see the light. I experienced the rock being removed from my path. By acceptance of how I saw myself at that time, in that moment, I was able to arise from the ashes of despair and into the peace of God. It did take time to work through. And this reading was the catalyst for it. It was through my little, tiny bit of willingness to trust Jesus and have faith that this prayer is the truth and would help me to heal that I experienced the resurrection. I can say that I look back on that era of my life with gratitude, certainly not what occurred to my girls, but to look back at a time where I changed my perception of myself and headed in a direction of self-love. I can love myself because God loved me first. And that is what I can continue to extend.

So if you have a difficult situation in your life at this moment, are you willing to be utterly and deeply responsible for it? Are you ready to lay down the blame? Are you ready to be dead honest in the mirror with yourself? Read to face the truth? Are you ready to forgive? Are you ready to have Jesus help you remove the blockages to your peace of mind? You can do this. You are not alone. You have your elder brother. You have me. You have all of us here at MiraclesOne. You are surrounded by mighty companions always and in all ways. Call on us, we are here.

No One is Ever Guilty in a Dream!!!

Safety, avoiding upsetting situations, being happy and peaceful no matter what’s going on around you… we need to snap out of the illusion, wake up from our silly dream and our wishful thinking and CHOOSE AGAIN! And so who are we choosing between… easy. Jesus or Satan! Actually Satan is a bit much because it has been used to scare innocent people for ages. Satan is Hebrew for adversary. Satan is that part of mind that is working against what’s best for us, and he or it does so by design. Another words, on propose. ACIM calls Satan EGO who is an actual dream force like us, but it’s invisible, lives in our minds and is always, always, trying to punish us with guilt and shame for sins that it says we committed. And the big bummer is down deep we believe the ego. If we would choose Jesus we’d see we never went deep enough… because if you keep on digging into your mind you eventually hit LIGHT, DIVINE LIGHT. Everyone does no matter where you dig from, you just have dig in real deep. Most of us stay in the shallow end and fake happiness and enlightenment because ego has us too scared to look at the sins we think we committed.

So instead we blame others, flinging our ego-invented sins at each other so we don’t have to admit our own sins and hence won’t feel the pain of the guilt over what we think we have done. BUT WAIT ! We are dreaming! and… NO ONE IS EVER GUILTY IN A DREAM!!! That’s one reason why Jesus used the word dream. It’s easier to see the absurdity of holding someone guilty for what they did when they’re fast asleep. And so it is with The Sonship. The Son of God seemed to, or pretended, or made believe he was sleeping, and entered a dream or illusion of duality, of opposites, of pairs.

Q: Did the Son really fall asleep. Are we really here?
A: No. Hence the words pretend, dream, illusion and make believe. Also, sleeping is a human thing… it’s part of the illusion. Saying The Son of God fell asleep is a way to help us understand what happened. Truth be told, we don’t have the words to even ask the question ‘how did Oneness break into pieces.’ No matter how many variations of the question people have tried they’re all the same. It’s the ego using the individual to harass the spirit into an admission that God is not an absolute Oneness. It’s like this… Can God make a rock He cannot lift? Oooooh, sounds tricky. It’s tricky because it’s not really a question. It’s not anything actually. It’s just words strung together with a question mark at the end. I’ll show you what I mean by giving the only possible response… Yes God can make a rock he can’t lift… and no he cannot. What’s that you say? That’s not an answer? That’s what you get when you don’t ask a question. Asking how we got here, no matter how you phrase it is the ego, unconsciously using you to make the statement “I’m here, admit it!” But he dresses it up as a question and tells you you’re very smart for “asking.”

Q: What is Divine Light?
A: The Light one finds when one digs deep enough on the inside, when he faces down his imaginary sins and then there is only LIGHT.

Q: What does the Light do?
A: Ensures Safety, Happiness and Peacefulness no matter what’s going on around you…

The teachers of God have trust in the world, because they have learned it is not governed by the laws the world made up. It is governed by a power that is in them but not of them. It is this power that keeps all things safe.

Holy Spirit Speaks in Many Ways

Tom Wolff
MiraclesOne Ministerial Student

Often students are disappointed when they feel no contact by the Holy Spirit. The course teaches us that Holy Spirit is always speaking to us but we are not listening.  I think that even more so we fail to recognize that Holy Spirit  is “speaking” to us because often it is not a voice.

The course teaches that when we hear the Holy Spirit we feel joy and peace. Ever look at a beautiful sunset and feel  joy or a deep peaceful connection?  This is the Holy Spirit speaking to us. Ever all of a sudden notice a sign or words that seem to give an answer?  The Holy Spirit never criticizes, cajoles, or makes  you feel  bad. If the “message” makes you feel bad most likely it is the ego masquerading with “helpful” words that bring guilt or worry.

The Holy Spirit can even talk to you in dreams.  I recently had a dream where I was one of four teachers split up into four different parts of a room with students at our tables.  I was waiting for the Holy Spirit to come over to my table to begin the instruction. I suddenly realized that I could start the teaching and immediately felt a little guilty for not having done so. The Holy Spirit at the other table immediately said “That’s OK”, assuring me I have done nothing wrong. I felt better and was ready to begin the class. This dream was evidence to me that it was OK to participate in instruction any time. The Holy Spirit is nearby and will be there to help no matter wether I feel ready or not.

As you go to bed and also when you rise have a small conversation  with the Holy Spirit  and ask for help to listen.  You only need the willingness- God always is speaking his Word to you.
