Miracle Flight #10 – Holy Spirit’s Vectors to Heaven | Miracle Flights

Greetings Student Pilots,
In today’s episode of Miracle Flights, we observe and listen to live airliner traffic being vectored by air traffic controllers to Chicago O’Hare International Airport for landing. This turned out to be a wonderful example of how the Voice of the Holy Spirit guides us home to heaven as described in the Course reading, The Voice for God (T-5.II).

Within this reading, Jesus explains that when we, as Children of God, decided to fall asleep and create the voice of the ego within our minds, God also placed within our minds at the same time, the Voice of the Holy Spirit. This Inner Voice is hidden deep within our minds, waiting to be discovered through our practice of deep listening in silent meditation.
Jesus further explains, The Holy Spirit is your Guide in choosing. He is in the part of your mind that always speaks for the right choice, because He speaks for God. He is your remaining communication with God, which you can interrupt but cannot destroy (T-5.II.8).
The Voice of the Holy Spirit is a gift from God whose function is to gently guide us back home toward Heaven, then clear us for a final approach and landing back into Oneness with God. Our function is to make the conscious choice to tune into the Holy Spirit’s approach control frequency, listen, and then follow His instructions that vector us back home.
In closing, here’s a flying tip to remember, if you push the stick forward, the houses get bigger!

Thoughts on Week 27, Ch. 15, VIII The Only Real Relationship

Holy Spirit,

I acknowledge You in my mind. I listen intently to Your Voice. Be gentle and quick with Your Message of Love and Forgiveness. I desire this holy instant for myself and another. I know You are with me in this. I know You see only the truth in us both. I accept my release and freedom. Amen.

“God does not understand your problem in communication, for He does not share it with you.”

God does not experience the barrier to communication, but I experience it almost daily. Words are symbols upon symbols and everyone has their own interpretation. Some use words as swords, weapons of destruction. These symbols can be used instead for love and forgiveness. How quickly I and my brothers can use words to mince one to pieces to make ourselves the victor. Silently or verbally, it is all the same.

These thoughts I have would I share them with myself? These words of bondage to the ego would I say them to myself? Why then would I think or say these words about others? It’s easy to blame others for doing so but the mirror is there in my hand.

Dare I look? I can look with love and see the Holy Spirit showing me the true reflection of the Son of God. I am grateful for the true reflection of Who I am.

Thoughts on Week 27, Ch. 15, IV. Practicing the Holy Instant

silhouette of anonymous person looking at falling star

The holy instant is this instant and every instant. The one you want it to be it is.

I desire the holy instant here and now. I see not the past nor the future. I embrace the holy instant right this very moment. Gladness is what I want. I need the release from the nothingness of the world that holds me back from my glory.

I have tried my best, yet for some of those in my life it was never enough, no matter what I did, nor how I encouraged, nor how I listened. Only God’s Will content me. What did I really hope to gain? I didn’t gain anything but further loneliness.

Now it is time to clear the altar to pain, and humble myself before God. I place my altar to you my Father. I seek Your Freedom and Your Love. I put forth more effort in my practice, and I double my willingness so that all littleness will be banished from my mind.

Jesus, I need your assistance, now and forever. Stand with me in the holy instant, be with me, do not let me stand alone again. I know what you teach me is the truth. I trust in you.

I will uncover the thoughts that I have kept hidden that have shut the door on communication. As you have said:

Ask yourself honestly, “Would I want to have perfect communication, and am I wholly willing to let everything that interferes with it go forever?”

I ask myself this presently. I do it in tears but willingness to let every obstacle go. I know the Holy Spirit’s purity will shine all away and bring to my awareness the Love and Peace of God that will carry me Home.

Thoughts on Week 25, Ch. 14, VI. The Light of Communication

“The exchange of dark for light” is Jesus’ teaching here. I like the word “exchange”. I can exchange an item that I bought from a store for a new item or a new size or return a faulty item. Why not exchange at God’s Customer Service Counter the thoughts that do not fit me. Those thoughts are too snug, keep me limited, allow no freedom or room to breathe, why not exchange them for a lighter model?

I have to enter into communion with the Holy Spirit to make this exchange. It is the holy communication that He and I share that allows the exchange of darks thoughts for those of joy.

As Jesus indicates here, “The quiet light in which the Holy Spirit dwells within you is merely perfect openness in which nothing is hidden and therefore nothing is fearful.” As I exchange those hidden, dark attack thoughts, and He shines His Light upon them I can see the uselessness of hiding in the first place. The relief comes by crawling out of the cave of pain I have created. I may squint and cover my eyes, yet still afraid of the light, but once out into the light I can feel the strength of warm protection always.

Today Holy Spirit, I trust in You and Your communication with me. I know Your Message is always one of Love and I need not fear. I open my doors to you, please come in and bring Your Light.

Thoughts on Lesson 105

Lesson 105 – God’s peace and joy are mine.

My brother, peace and joy I offer you, That I may have God’s peace and joy as mine.

We all have these people who just “drive me crazy!” in our lives. For me, it becomes less and less. My buttons are not pushed and I have to remember I am the one who pushes the button in the first place! No one does anything to me out there.

Not too long ago I had communication from someone who at one time was one of these “drive me crazy” people. At first I could feel the reaction wanting to leap from my chest. Yet I quieted down and it just so happened I was listening to Richard Thomas reading quotes from A Course in Miracles. Yes, Richard Thomas of “The Waltons’ fame. Remember him as JohnBoy Walton? Am I dating myself?

Anyway, I knew within the conflict. I wanted to react, yet I did not. I knew that I my one desire was peace. As I listened to my “JohnBoy Jesus” as I have now come to call Richard Thomas’ recording, my heart melted. I was being reminded of the truth in such a gentle way. My desire for peace was strong and was it an accident I was listening to this gentle voice? No, not at all.

This was a gift. Not only did the surge of reaction dissipate quite quickly, but all I recognized was the perfect gift in this moment my brother had given me by his communication. I was able to respond in a loving way thus opening the door to love. And yes, opening to the realization that God’s peace and joy are mine and yours and ours.

Amen to that!

Peace and Joy,

Rev. Deb

Thoughts on Week 10 – Text – Chapter 6, V. The Lessons of the Holy Spirit A. To Have, Give All to All

Chapter 6, V. The Lessons of the Holy Spirit A. To Have, Give All to All
The crack of dawn the light begins to filter through, the signal of so softly to awaken. How pleasant to know that it is the way that the Holy Spirit is with me. He is not here to frighten me, shake me awake, or drag me into the Light against my will. He waits but patiently for my eyelids to flutter and embrace the new day, the new life I have in Him. It is here that I rest.

While I am here, through Holy Spirit, I use my body as a communication device to draw my brother’s together in gratitude and joy. Each reassured that all is given that no one is deprived and that all are dearly loved.

Peace in Being Truly Helpful

Rev. Deb shares in this episode to remember that you are of service to your brothers and to do so with communication, compassion, kindness, responsibility, nonjudgment, and forgiveness. This is the way to peace for us as ACIM students. As it says in ACIM, “I am here only to be truly helpful. I am here to represent Him Who sent me.”

Your Communication Link

From I am Entitled to Miracles! Simple Ways to Apply the Principles in ACIM

Holy Spirit, I wish to hear Your Loving Voice speak to me all through the day. I do not know how to listen by myself. I know that it takes my willingness to hear You and an open mind. This, I provide to You today. I know that You are always in communication with me and it is me that is not listening. Help me to do so today. Thank you. Amen.

We don’t think we are worthy to hear the Holy Spirit. Or we think that only “special” or “gifted” people can hear His Voice. That’s not true. Anyone can hear His Voice. It does not take any specialized training or title. It only takes your willingness.

His Voice is quiet. He does not command or demand anything from us. There is no sense of urgency. Urgent suggestions are signs of the ego’s voice. Holy Spirit’s Voice reminds us of another way of looking at whatever situation we are involved in. He shows us how to see it from Love’s perspective. He helps us with the miracle so that we may shift from fear to love.

Make the communication link between you and Holy Spirit essential and necessary.

This is the same way that we would nurture any relationship. Communication is always the key component for relationship success.

Keep your mind in tune with Holy Spirit. Speak to Him as you would a very dear friend. Tell Him everything. Just lay it on the line. Cuss if you must! Do not hide anything from Him in any way. The more honest you can be the more you will move into a healing space.

Remind yourself that you want to stay in touch with the Holy Spirit all the time and not just when your life is taking a turn for the worse. During the bad times, we tend to use Holy Spirit like a slot machine, putting in our desires and expecting a large return; or we can be like children writing to Santa Claus asking him to fulfill an extended wish list.

Invest in the relationship with Holy Spirit by sharing your gratitude and appreciation as well as your struggles. Talk with Him, as I said before, like you would talk to a friend.

And this willingness opens your ears
to the Voice of the Holy Spirit,
Whose message is wholeness. T-11.II.4:2

Hide and Seek

The days of hiding from love are over. As we saw in June’s readings, our fear is that of God and His Love. We have chosen this world in which to hide and whilst here we seek for comfort from any source we can find it, except of course from our One Source. As I think of the readings from last month, here are additional thoughts that came into view for me.

There are other ways or you could say other layers in the world that we hide without realizing we are doing so. We hide behind our face of innocence protesting that we are the victim of another’s words and actions. We hide behind symbols and most used are that of “words.” We use them to confound and confuse. We use them as a façade to show the smile yet beneath is our seething hate for another. We hide from truth and refuse to connect with our brothers and sisters here, let alone Holy Spirit, Jesus and God.

We mask our truth only in self-deception. These days it can be as email or Facebook in an avoidance to speak directly. I was reading some article that I do not recall that described how vicious people can be these days with comments on websites such as CNN and other websites. Typically things that they would not say but saying it as they hide behind anonymity and the internet. We regale our hate yet inside we are fearful of conflict.

In all as I have been sharing in our Sunday series on the Characteristics of God’s Teachers, we must focus on the foundation of Trust. Because we do not trust, we lash out and build the brick walls between us. Instead let us build our trust by letting go of what is valueless here. Is being “right” of value? Is being a “victim” of value? It happens so subtly that we do not even realize it. Then to justify we do what I call “Course-ifying”. We say what we do with pure hatred and fear but we use the pretty words of the Course to do so. All the while not really saying anything at all. Hide and seek. What are we seeking but more fear when we do this?

Sure I have done it, you have too. I know for some time now I try to be as direct as possible. And you know, people don’t like direct communication. We avoid it as it makes us uncomfortable. I was there too. Heart to heart communication sets us free. But let us go back to building trust because when we build that trust and we are firm in our convictions and firm in our truth, we have no reason to hide. We let go of the valueless through our willingness and forgiveness.

When we are in solid trust, then we speak directly with honesty to anyone and everyone. We are not afraid and remain consistent in the truth. Remember what Jesus says “honesty” means in the Characteristics? It means consistency, “no word belies your thought” as they are in alignment. People can see through the illusion there, but not through the illusion of this world because we enjoy hiding here too much. We like the thrill of the game. Instead, let us release our judgments as we recognize the truth and freedom is ours.

Our minds have been sick as we believed everything that is not true. We placed blame on everyone else: family, friends, co-workers, significant others, co-workers, organizations, political parties, countries and societies, oh wait there’s more! Instead, let us own responsibility for our own mind’s thoughts and choices. Drop the veil!

We can be saved. There is a cure. That cure is God’s Love. It matters not what mistakes we have made. There is always forgiveness, hope and peace available to us.

At times we fall on our own sword when we need not. We judge ourselves just as mercilessly as we judge others. Most times we blame others. If we could accept that a mistake is a mistake is a mistake, whether it is in regards to others or ourselves, then we would see the light of love. We would breathe easier and a smile would come so ever gently to our face.

Happiness is our function. We were created in joy. Why allow the weight of the world, the stones of indecision, the boulders of insecurity and the mountains of self-judgment to continue to hold us back from the golden stream of Light. That stream is the way home that Jesus offers us.

Jesus encourages you and I to follow the glorious Light. He supports us endlessly so why continue to refuse his help? I know you have seen his help. You have had glimpses whether it is in the pages of A Course in Miracles, or those who have  entered into your life of which you pushed away because of your own fear. Push back no longer. Accept the Love and the Holy Help that surrounds you eternally.

Even if you have turned it away before, perhaps many times, NOW is the time. The hand is extended, be no longer afraid of the dark, take that hand and rise into a new dawn. The Light has touched you and you will never forget your True Home.

Communication with Spirit and Others

A few thoughts I have had since our class ended last night on listening to Inner Wisdom, we obviously had talked tremendously about the communication link between Holy Spirit and ourselves. There is still a little more we can reflect upon.

So, think about this. If you are not experiencing the level of communication with Holy Spirit as you would like, take a look at how you communicate with others here in the world.

Do you communicate effectively?

Do you communicate openly and honestly?

Do you have the courage to speak up and say your truth, your feelings and thoughts?

Do you hold back because of fear what others might think?

Do you listen intently and reflect back what someone has said to you?

Do you speak over someone pushing your own agenda?

Do you make communication all about what you have to say?

Do you communicate at all or do you refrain?

Do you respond when someone calls or emails? Even to say, “I’ll get back to you soon.”

Do you send mixed messages? Say one thing but do another?

Are you truly in alignment with what you are thinking and feeling? Do you respond accordingly?

These self-reflection questions may assist you in taking a pulse on your personal communication. It is spiritually mature to be direct, honest and fearless in our communications. This is how we facilitate deeper healing and growth.

As Jesus says in the “Honesty” section in the Manual for Teachers, IV. What are the Characteristics of God’s Teachers?

“Honesty does not apply only to what you say. The term actually means consistency. There is nothing you say that contradicts what you think or do; no thought opposes any other thought; no act belies your word; and no word lacks agreement with another. Such are the truly honest. At no level are they in conflict with themselves. Therefore it is impossible for them to be in conflict with anyone or anything.”

If you find yourself conflicted, it is because you are not consistent in your thoughts, words and actions. Don’t think that others do not notice because they do. Lack of communication is isolation and separation. Communication is joining. As it says in Chapter 4, VII. Creation and Communication, “The ego is thus against communication, except insofar as it is utilized to establish separateness rather than to abolish it. The communication system of the ego is based on its own thought system, as is everything else it dictates. Its communication is controlled by its need to protect itself, and it will disrupt communication when it experiences threat. This disruption is a reaction to a specific person or persons. The specificity of the ego’s thinking, then, results in spurious generalization which is really not abstract at all. It merely responds in certain specific ways to everything it perceives as related.”

The ego wants to keep us separate, that is its job. Holy Spirit has complete and direct communication with every aspect of communication (YOU!). Yet we placed a brick wall in the way of the communication. Jesus goes on in this section to say, “It is a state in which the mind is in communication with everything that is real. To whatever extent you permit this state to be curtailed you are limiting your sense of your own reality, which becomes total only by recognizing all reality in the glorious context of its real relationship to you. This is your reality. Do not desecrate it or recoil from it. It is your real home, your real temple and your real Self.”

We all want to experience the peace and joy of God. We won’t experience it fully if we hold back in certain areas of our lives. We in truth can have no private thoughts. We think we can. Yet as I illustrated earlier others can tell when you are not consistent.  Remember the “Honesty” section I described earlier. You can be in the holy instant instead, it takes willingness, trust and a stepping out on faith.

Finally, from Chapter 15, IV. Practicing the Holy Instant: “Ask yourself honestly, “Would I want to have perfect communication, and am I wholly willing to let everything that interferes with it go forever?” If the answer is no, then the Holy Spirit’s readiness to give it to you is not enough to make it yours, for you are not ready to share it with Him. And it cannot come into a mind that has decided to oppose it. For the holy instant is given and received with equal willingness, being the acceptance of the single Will that governs all thought…. Let the Holy Spirit’s purity shine them (thoughts) away, and bring all your awareness to the readiness for purity He offers you. Thus will He make you ready to acknowledge that you are host to God, and hostage to no one and to nothing”

If you wonder why you don’t receive messages from Holy Spirit or do not have better relationships with family, friends and co-workers, this information and passages may help you to see clues from your own life you can correct right now. We need to communicate honestly with Him and our brothers thus we can receive the messages of love and peace in return. It’s the idea that giving and receiving are one. We can hear Holy Spirit through others but if we are putting up blocks to the messages, then we cannot receive them.

This is not a time of self-judgment but a time of liberation. As you free up the obstacles you have placed in front of Holy Spirit and your brothers, you will receive blessings a thousandfold of insights, messages of love, and true inner peace.
