Feeling out of Balance These Days?

Are you ready for less stress and anxiety, a little peace of mind, relaxation, movement, and/or a connection to your spiritual side?

When we are in balance, it is a state of optimal wellbeing, vitality, and wholeness. When our Mind, Body, and Spirit are aligned we are at our most optimal state of existence and our life energy, is free flowing. When we are in a state of balance, this is when we are the healthiest and can function at our best.

We can fall in and out of balance when we are faced with persistent stressors or an unexpected illness, or not being in tune with our spiritual side. We may feel a lack of compassion or of love for self and others. We may feel stressed or anxious.

I’d like to help you awaken to the knowledge that YOU can begin again. I am here to empower and encourage you in healing yourself through mind, body & spirit practices. I will put you at ease so you may optimize your healing potential.

Each moment is a chance to evolve in your discovery of A NEW YOU!

It doesn’t matter where you are now, the important aspect is that you have a little willingness and a dash of dedication.

By my decades of study, practice and experience in meditation, mindfulness, yoga, metaphysics, (particularly A Course in Miracles for 27 years) and spirituality, and more recently sound healing, I can help you attune to what is the best method for you. I have found it is a life-long process as I, myself, continue to work on all these areas to this day.

Your Benefits?

Less stress and anxiety, more peace of mind, gentle movement brought back to your body, and a connection to your inner spirit (no matter what spirituality or religion you follow).

Aren’t you worth spending time on bringing yourself into balance so you can be available to your family and friends? We must start with ourselves, just as they say on
flights, put your own oxygen mask on first.

How can I help you? I have multiple certifications in meditation and mindfulness. I am a spiritual teacher and interfaith minister, and a yoga teacher.

To assist in your process, I recently graduated from the Yoga for All Certified Instructor course in addition to my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training I attended last year. Yoga for All means for all sizes, shapes and abilities using variations and props to meet you where you are in the physical body. This also means we will focus on body positivity and self-acceptance.

Finally, I am excited about my current training as a yoga therapist with Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy. Once completed, I will be able to assist you on a deeper level. Yoga therapy is a type of therapy that uses yoga postures, breathing exercises, meditation, and guided imagery to improve mental and physical health. The holistic focus of yoga therapy encourages the integration of the mind, body, and spirit.

Ready to become balanced?

In our sessions, we’ll take a look at what areas of your life our out of balance, and how we can bring harmony to your life. We may focus on one, two, or all three areas at any given time.

Thank you for considering this avenue of support.
Namaste and Peace,
Deb Phelps

The Holy Spirit is Our Compass

In Lesson 155 – I will step back and let Him lead the way, it states, There is a way of living in the world that is not here, although it seems to be. You do not change appearance, though you smile more frequently. Your forehead is serene; your eyes are quiet. And the ones who walk the world as you do recognize their own. Yet those who have not yet perceived the way will recognize you also, and believe that you are like them, as you were before.

Who wouldn’t want to live like this? Let that passage soak in.

I know in my own practice, and I emphasize the word, practice, I do smile more frequently. I feel at ease and keep my composure. The calm center is always there even if I am entangled in a difficult situation.

The other piece to this is Lesson 155 itself and its words — “I will step back.” This means resigning yourself from taking the leadership role in your life. Let yourself be guided. When I step back, I allow the strength of God to step forward. I can trust in Him. When I step back, I am in the Quiet Center of my being. In the quiet center, I need do nothing.

Jesus tells us in Chapter 18, VII. I Need Do Nothing:

Who needs do nothing has no need for time. To do nothing is to rest, and make a place within you where the activity of the body ceases to demand attention. Into this place the Holy Spirit comes, and there abides. He will remain when you forget, and the body’s activities return to occupy your conscious mind.

Yet there will always be this place of rest to which you can return. And you will be more aware of this quiet center of the storm than all its raging activity. This quiet center, in which you do nothing, will remain with you, giving you rest in the midst of every busy doing on which you are sent. For from this center will you be directed how to use the body sinlessly. It is this center, from which the body is absent, that will keep it so in your awareness of it.

We have become so accustomed to doing, doing, doing. We interfere all too often instead of retreat to allow Spirit to guide. We have to remove the beliefs that are in opposition to the truth. All this Instead of simply being. What do we do? We plan, we judge, we interpret, we analyze, and go round and round in circles chasing our tail. We spend a lot of time either in the past or the future with our regrets and our worries. We focus on what others are doing and how they could solve their problems. We think that all of this will point us in the right direction. Sometimes we barely breathe at all. Our schedules are full, and we find ourselves overcommitted. Something inside us is calling us into the silence and in the Arms of God.

Now is the time to Let Him Lead the Way.

The Holy Spirit is our compass. He helps us to navigate the world, and He leads us in the direction of God, of Home, of Heaven. He is the tool for us to use.

We can live differently. We can live a peaceful life, even if we have days that are full of chores and errands and our minds full of worries and concerns. We can lead a guided life. We can trust the Holy Spirit.

By grounding ourselves and coming into the present moment, very simply and very gently all will be revealed to us. We will find that some things just don’t matter. And what matters will be obvious to us.

What will be obvious to us is how much we desired peace in our lives. We have had a glimpse here and a glimpse there but not sustained for any reasonable amount of time.

Perhaps we have been relatively calm in our lives, yet one adverse situation can cause us to go off the deep end and into depression or anger. When we become solid, grounded and centered, we see that our safety is in the moment and we have everything that we need here and now.

We feel unsafe and afraid when unexpected circumstances occur. Yet here with Holy Spirit and allowing Him to take the lead, we can rest a bit easier. This doesn’t mean there are not tasks we may have to do, but we will do it with love and strength.

Letting the Holy Spirit guide is letting the Light within you to be more than just a spark of inspiration.

We start off our journey of turning to our COMPASS, the Holy Spirit, by focusing our minds on being centered. We practice the willingness to turn to the Holy Spirit. That is our focus, getting centered and having the willingness to live a different life than we have. A life that is happy, peaceful and one of ease.

We celebrate it with each moment we listen to the Voice of Love over the Voice of fear.  Now is the time to accept Holy Spirit’s lead in your life.

Last week I started a new class called, “Let Him Lead the Way.” Students encouraged to read, to reflect, to journal, to meditate and to focus on the acceptance of Holy Spirt’s leadership and guidance in their lives. The results so far in the first week are nothing short of miraculous.

The class is offered as self-study now, and you can join in at any moment. In the class, you will receive exercises, practices, and meditations to assist you in allowing the Light in you to leap forward.

Access the class here and you will be on your way to a deeper connection with the Light within.

What Lessons are Here for Us?

On Sunday, October 2nd, 2016, I spoke of the world as our classroom. Everything here is for us to remember to choose the Teacher of Love over the teacher of fear. EVERY situation, EVERY news item, EVERY relationship, and all of it is for us. This is how we heal and this is how we find peace in our lives.

The question then is “Is my peace of mind worth going through the lesson?” Hopefully, the answer is a resounding “yes.” Many times I have spoke and share on the idea that this course is a course in practical application. This is where the rubber meets the road. If we want to embrace A Course in Miracles truly, then we must live it to the best of our abilities. There are many situations in our lives, and this was evident in our Sharing Circle after my Sunday Message, where we can become confused about how to handle our experience.

If you use the idea of your internal feelings as your barometer, and stop immediately when you feel out of sorts or a lack of peace, or sad, angry, frustrated and so on, and turn within to Jesus or the Holy Spirit, you are making a great stride towards your healing. This can be anything in your experience. As I spoke Sunday in relation to my Message and with the group afterwards, every moment we have an opportunity to choose our teacher.

Somewhere, somehow we have decided we wanted to remain as a victim to this world. The very world we made up! When we realize how empowered we truly are, we can change our mind. We can think differently. Does this change the world itself? Perhaps not, but it changes our experience of the world as we change our perception and purpose of the world.

We find as we join with our most Holy Instructor, we can view all situations through His Loving Eyes. He does not see the negative, the destruction, the chaos, the injustice or any of which our body’s senses experience. What He sees is Love. What we can see with Him, is Love. He knows we identify with the body and it’s okay, but we can also identify with truth and make our experience here happier and more peaceful.

Yes, there are many instances in our lives, all of our lives and around the world that trigger strong emotions. We want to help or change the world in some way, but we don’t know how or we think we do. Changing our mind about the world as Jesus suggests does not mean we sit in lotus position and burn incense and ignore what is occurring. We do turn within to Him, we do ask to see through His Eyes, and we forgive the situation. Yet, we may also be called to act, instead of acting from the ego, we would be using our body and our voice, to be an agent of love.

The Course is not concerned about what you do in the world, but from what premise or mindset you do it. It starts first with our mind. One can offer a gift from fear or from love and from guilt or from appreciation. The act is the same but the premise is different.

Think about this as you read or view the news, gather with family or friends, attend meetings at your job, and so forth. You can make a difference by being the peacemaker in your own mind. Try it for the next hour and see how it feels. Then try it for the following hour, and so on. A thousand minds are set free as you set yours free.

In Peace,

Rev. Deb

Thoughts on Week 36, Text, Ch. 20, VI. The Temple of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit’s temple is not a body, but a relationship.

When I reflect on relationships in my past, marriages or friendships or otherwise, I can admit to myself there was a smack of idolatry as Jesus speaks of here. Now, it’s not that I worshipped someone else, but when we look at the idolatry, it is putting someone else above us. I held some people and created an agenda that there was to be no mistakes, and really it was to have them worship me. Yikes!

Turning this over to the Holy Spirit changes this. I no longer make others responsible for my feelings, my emotions, my needs and anything else I would dream up. I am responsible for the own choices and decisions I have made in my life. Blame disappears. Darkness is lifted. Simply, I remove the body from the equation and receive eternal blessing. This blessing comes from the knowledge so simply we are One.

It is this simple. The barriers I put up are long and winding before my brothers and sisters in the world. With each tick of truth, another barrier disintegrates and here I am opening my mind more and more to the true relationship.

Here is the way to true relationships held gently open, through which you and your brother walk together, leaving the body thankfully behind and resting in the Everlasting Arms. Love’s Arms are open to receive you, and give you peace forever.

Thoughts on Week 33, Text, Chapter 19, I. Healing and Faith

We said before that when a situation has been dedicated wholly to truth, peace is inevitable.

Here it is again, setting the goal. Peace comes when we offer all of our experiences to the Holy Spirit. Let Him handle it and peace is received. Isn’t this a relief to know we can have peace anytime we want? We have it because we step aside from our petty desires.

Additionally in this section: Every situation, properly perceived, becomes an opportunity to heal the Son of God.

I have related this many times in my writings on my life with ACIM. I choose to use whatever situation is in front of me as an opportunity for forgiveness and healing. When I do so, I receive exactly what I requested, HEALING. And what needs healed? My mind. As Jesus continues, it is not the body that needs healed but our mind. Ineed to see beyond the body to what lies within myself and my brother. That being the illumination of truth. Yes, it gets old hearing this, right? We are One. One is all there is. Peace is found within. Etc. But you see, we need these reminders over and over and once again because we forget so readily and rapidly.

I know I have throughout the course of my day, even this morning. How about you?

So take the reminders with love. Embrace faith, grace, the holy instant, your brother and yourself. Don’t belittle yourself for forgetting to practice, or to remember, or that you became angry, or you had forgotten to forgive. Start now at this very moment (yes, again and again if you have to do so) to allow a new start. It only takes that recognition and then, willingness. I assure you for me and for you and for all of us that we will get through this. We will come to know this Course by living this Course through the mistakes and missteps we make. In this, we learn non-judgment and love.

Thoughts on Week 32, Chapter 18, VII. I Need Do Nothing

But I have to do SOMETHING!

No, I need do nothing. How can I just sit around and do nothing when X, Y, and Z is occurring? I have to be worried for X. I have to be concerned for Y. And, something must be done for Z, as that outcome is SO important!

Relax, in trusting the Holy Spirit, I will know what it is I am to do. I allow myself to be guided. All the worries and anxieties in the world will not relieve me of the stress in any given situation. Trusting only in His Care and His Peace will do so.

You [are] prepared. Now you need but to remember you need do nothing. It would be far more profitable now merely to concentrate on this than to consider what you should do. When peace comes at last to those who wrestle with temptation and fight against the giving in to sin; when the light comes at last into the mind given to contemplation; or when the goal is finally achieved by anyone, it always comes with just one happy realization; “[I need do nothing.]”…To do anything involves the body. And if you recognize you need do nothing, you have withdrawn the body’s value from your mind.

Can it really be this easy? Yes! Release the temptations of the mind to analyze and plan out every possible outcome. Place peace as the goal, and you can relax and know you are in the Hands of God.

Thoughts on Week 32, Chapter 18, VI. Beyond the Body

There is nothing outside of you. That is what you must ultimately learn, for it is the realization that the Kingdom of Heaven is restored to you.

A lot of emphasis is placed on the body in our lives. Just check out 30 minutes of a TV program, and commercials remind us of this. What we need to eat, what we need to wear, how we need to create better health and more, flickers on our screen. And yes, we have to exist on this level and do those daily tasks to take care of ourselves. I’m not suggesting otherwise.

But what about our mind? Do we take care of that as carefully as our body? The Course presents to us a program to do so with the Workbook for Students, and even in the pages of the Text and Manual. We come to know we will not find Heaven here in the world. As he tells us in this section, Heaven is an awareness of perfect Oneness. It is the realization there is nothing but this Oneness.

The body came about as the ego’s tool for separation. And it keeps separating, one body after another. We seem to join on the body level, right? We get together with family and friends and enjoy our time spent. Yet there is still a distance we feel. We join and then we go home to our house full of stuff, further insulation from one another. We have political parties, genders, faiths, and more to induce more separation. And, all body related.

The essence of our spirit is not this body we see before us. The body may seem as a barrier to others and to God, but God is ever present in our mind whether we acknowledge Him or not.

Let us remember what we learn in this section, “minds are joined; bodies are not.” I know I’ve felt it if even for a nanosecond and so have you. The phone rings and it’s someone you were thinking of just now. There are many ways it is demonstrated we are not alone and walled off from others as we so think. We join together at a prayer service or other gathering, body-wise but also mind-wise.

Our lesson is to keep moving beyond the body and into the mind we share with God. That is where real satisfaction comes.

Thoughts on Lessons 219-220

For this writing, I feel drawn to the prayer with Lesson 220 this day.

Let me not wander from the way of peace, for I am lost on other roads than this. But let me follow Him Who leads me home, and peace is certain as the Love of God.

Peace is certain when I realize I am not at peace and ask for His Precious Help. When I allow myself to go with the waves of chaos, it will keep continuing. The good news is, I can choose again and stop the chaos. It doesn’t matter how thick the storm and how swirled away in it I’ve become, I can still put the way of peace as my prayer.

Our prayers are always answered. The moment we knew we realized there was a problem in our mind, it was then the Holy Spirit answered us. Let us accept His Answer.

I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.
I am not a body. I am free.
There is no peace except the peace of God.

Thoughts on Week 30, Chapter 17, II. The Forgiven World

Can you imagine how beautiful those you forgive will look to you?

How beautiful those we forgive will look to us? Yes, it is so. We see the beauty because that is all we now desire to see. This includes ourselves.  When we see with Holy Spirit’s Eyes,  no more are we focused on the wrongs or flaws of another.

I see this for myself with my recent diagnosis of fibromyalgia. It’s just a diagnosis made here in the world. It’s up to me to decide how I will see myself. Will I see myself as limited or unlimited? The body itself may be limited but my mind is eternal. As always, which teacher do I place my alignment?

As this reading (Text, Ch. 17. II. The Forgiven World) we are using in this “Take a Vacation from the Ego” class states in paragraph 1. When we look upon ourselves or our brothers with loveliness, we are seeing the Son of God. We know that as the Son of God there is no separation, no divisions, and that includes the body. It’s not the body we look upon with love, it is the essence of Who we are. We see the Son of God in His glory and we are grateful that now we can truly see with eyes that are not our own.

Personally, I am not only practicing this with my own recent diagnosis but some individuals that have come to mind of late. The ego wants to stir the pot of judgment and criticism based on my own hurt and upset by what these individuals have either said or done. The pot can be stirred yet I can take what rises to the surface as my opportunity to purge it and replace it with the loving ingredients Spirit provides. All of course based on my own willingness.

It’s not hard to make this decision, it’s necessary. It is always looking within and asking myself, “Do I like how I feel right now?” If the answer is “No,” then I make a new choice. We have the ability to do so. It’s up to us to change our own mind. We can wish people and situations away, and sometimes they do “go away”, however, the baggage in the mind is still there. The guilt and judgment and resentment is still there. Freedom comes upon us when we take the slightest step to the side to see a new perspective.  Brother Tom, one of our MiraclesOne Board members stated after our Sunday Session yesterday, “In the Bible when it said to ‘Turn the other cheek’ it did not mean to take more punishment, it meant to see it from a different perspective.” We don’t have to sacrifice ourselves and further identify ourselves as victims. We can turn the other cheek and see it from a higher perspective.

Jesus asks us at the end of this reading, “How much do you want salvation?” As that of yourself, right here and right now, “How much do you desire it?” If you do, then meet with the Holy Spirit and allow Him to walk with you. Trust in Him, allow Him to lead the way. You will only be lead into the Light of Peace.

Namaste,
Rev. Deb

Love is freedom.

Love is freedom. In the special relationship, guilt is the glue binds us. We are lured in by that guilt. Then, Jesus says to use that the body is what gives meaning to the special relationship. It is a device of the world of form. We look to form to solve our problems. I must pursue this body to make me whole.

And so we come to the bridge where we leave the body and bodies behind. The spark of Who we are is within us. It is us. It is the beacon guiding us across the bridge to Heaven.

The little spark that holds the Great Rays within it is also visible, and this spark cannot be limited long to littleness.

Once we cross the bridge, we no longer see the value we have placed in the body and the world of form. We’ve walked away from the ice cold imprisonment. Yet we do not do this alone, we must bring our brothers with us.

We are given a prayer to assist us in doing so:

The Holy Spirit asks only this little help of you: Whenever your thoughts wander to a special relationship which still attracts you, enter with Him into a holy instant, and there let Him release you. He needs only your willingness to share His perspective to give it to you completely. And your willingness need not be complete because His is perfect. It is His task to atone for your unwillingness by His perfect faith, and it is His faith you share with Him there. Out of your recognition of your unwillingness for your release, His perfect willingness is given you. Call upon Him, for Heaven is at His Call. And let Him call on Heaven for you.

Thoughts on Lesson 199

I am not a body. I am free.

Unlimited. That’s what we are. UNLIMITED!

We believe otherwise because we see the body as a limitation. I know I have. With my fibromyalgia, or migraines, or anything else that goes along with my body or just being a body, it seemingly has presented challenges. It seems to stop me from doing what I desire to do or live my dreams. Yet what are my dreams, but dreams. It is not reality in God. If I sit quietly with lesson, and I have this morning, it is where I find freedom. Freedom is beyond this body and its sense of limitation. The only limitation is my self-imposed limitation. Granted in form, there may be activities I cannot do, yet my mind is very powerful. I can experience Heaven with my mind. It does not need my body to do so.

When I stop believing my limitation is my body, then I may use the body for a holier purpose. I would use it to share God’s gifts with the world. I would use it to let everyone know that love and happiness is theirs, as well as mine. God extend this to all of us as one. We can replace the fear with love. I do not need to make my body or anyone my enemy. All can be friend to me as I redesign the goal, and leave the goal only for God.

We are to practice our freedom today with this lesson. I know I will be doing so, will you join me?

I am not a body. I am free. I hear the Voice that God has given me, and it is only this my mind obeys.
