Continuing our series on The Song of Prayer, supplement to A Course in Miracles

3. Healing, III. Separation versus Union

As we near the end of our study series on The Song of Prayer,  I find for myself in reviewing this material yet again, has insightful and certainly worthwhile. As I look for myself at healing, especially since this year had thrown some curve balls to my health, I am reassured where true healing lies. True healing is the oneness with God. When I look at the false healing and healing of the world, now remember I am using Jesus’ words here. Obviously, we experience these bodies deeply day in and day out and it can seem frustrating to agree with Jesus and his points in the Course that the body is an illusion and healing is only of the mind.

Here in the world, we still do what we need to do. Take a pill, see a doctor, rest, or receive assistance in some way. We are talking about another level here, the level of the mind. We are learning that we are all equals here in the world. Doctors are not above us, and no one is below us, and so forth. To heal we recognize we are all the same in equality. We are all the Son of God in unity. There is nothing else on the level of Heaven. Form, as we know is a different story.

I take the Fibromyalgia I was diagnosed with earlier in the year. Here in the world, I do what I need to do to be good to myself, to rest when I need to do so, to take supplements and a daily medication and whatever else has been advised to me. I do it with love and I do it with the Holy Spirit. The body will heal or not, I really don’t know the answer because the answer is remembering to be grateful for what God created. God did not create this body. I can have a healthy body or an ill body. And that in itself can change here in the world. And as you know, it does. One day you are fine, the next perhaps allergies, and another a sore back. In fact, each day we are dying in these bodies if you think about it.

What can we do? I know for me what I have learned is to work on the level of form first so it may assist me in becoming comfortable so I may join with Jesus and the Holy Spirit to remember the truth. Jesus does not care for me to suffer. He wants only what is best for me. What is best for me is bringing serenity to my mind. He is one with me, and I with Him. I trust, if even a little if I am feel scared at all, and he will help facilitate peace. My part is my willingness.

After this and I am in the peace, I am open to living this differently. It is not for me to heal the body but for me to use what is occurring in the body to offer the gift of healing (union) to my mind. By the belief in the body, I am believing then in the separation from God. In focusing on the separation from God, no wonder I am fearful and anxious about my body. I am trusting in it instead of trusting in God. I will tell you at times early on this year, I had those fears. I have known other people with Fibromyalgia. Some were very bitter, angry people and some surrendered into depression, and some stay isolated. I did not want to see my life as such. I wanted to continue to live a happy life. And I have, by my own choice. Choice is the power we have. Can I see my situations and experiences through Holy Spirit’s Eyes. And more so, am I WILLING to do so or would I rather be a victim of the world and blame it and God for my lot in life.

It’s up to me. The Voice for God is with me. My healing of the mind has progressed because I have chosen to listen to Him. Why not give Holy Spirit a chance today? He has the remedy.

God’s Voice alone can tell you how to heal. Listen, and you will never fail to bring His kindly remedy to those He sends to you, to let Him heal them, and to bless all those who serve with Him in healing’s name. The body’s healing will occur because its cause has gone. And now without a cause, it cannot come again in different form.Nor will death any more be feared because it has been understood.  There is no fear in one who has been truly healed, for love has entered now where idols used to stand, and fear has given way at last to God.

Namaste,

III. Separation versus Union

S-3.III.1.               False healing heals the body in a part, but never as a whole. 2 Its separate goals become quite clear in this, for it has not removed the curse of sin that lies on it. 3 Therefore it still deceives. 4 Nor is it made by one who understands the other is exactly like himself. 5 For it is this that makes true healing possible. 6 When false, there is some power that another has, not equally bestowed on both as one. 7 Here is the separation shown. 8 And here the meaning of true healing has been lost, and idols have arisen to obscure the unity that is the Son of God.

S-3.III.2.               Healing-to-separate may seem to be a strange idea. 2 And yet it can be said of any form of healing that is based on inequality of any kind. 3 These forms may heal the body, and indeed are generally limited to this. 4 Someone knows better, has been better trained, or is perhaps more talented and wise. 5 Therefore, he can give healing to the one who stands beneath him in his patronage. 6 The healing of the body can be done by this because, in dreams, equality cannot be permanent. 7 The shifts and change are what the dream is made of. 8 To be healed appears to be to find a wiser one who, by his arts and learning, will succeed.

S-3.III.3.               Someone knows better; this the magic phrase by which the body seems to be the aim of healing as the world conceives of it. 2 And to this wiser one another goes to profit by his learning and his skill; to find in him the remedy for pain. 3 How can that be? 4 True healing cannot come from inequality assumed and then accepted as the truth, and used to help restore the wounded and to calm the mind that suffers from the agony of doubt.

S-3.III.4.               Is there a role for healing, then, that one can use to offer help for someone else? 2 In arrogance the answer must be “no.” 3 But in humility there is indeed a place for helpers. 4 It is like the role that helps in prayer, and lets forgiveness be what it is meant to be. 5 You do not make yourself the bearer of the special gift that brings the healing. 6 You but recognize your oneness with the one who calls for help. 7 For in this oneness is his separate sense dispelled, and it is this that made him sick. 8 There is no point in giving remedy apart from where the source of sickness is, for never thus can it be truly healed.

S-3.III.5.               Healers there are, for they are Sons of God who recognize their Source, and understand that all their Source creates is one with them. 2 This is the remedy that brings relief which cannot fail. 3 It will remain to bless for all eternity. 4 It heals no part, but wholly and forever. 5 Now the cause of every malady has been revealed exactly as it is. 6 And in that place is written now the holy Word of God. 7 Sickness and separation must be healed by love and union. 8 Nothing else can heal as God established healing. 9 Without Him there is no healing, for there is no love.

S-3.III.6.               God’s Voice alone can tell you how to heal. 2 Listen, and you will never fail to bring His kindly remedy to those He sends to you, to let Him heal them, and to bless all those who serve with Him in healing’s name. 3 The body’s healing will occur because its cause has gone. 4 And now without a cause, it cannot come again in different form. 5 Nor will death any more be feared because it has been understood. 6 There is no fear in one who has been truly healed, for love has entered now where idols used to stand, and fear has given way at last to God.
