REMEMBERING GOD

The practice of remembering God is not accomplished the same way that the ego has taught us. When we practice remembering God, we practice letting go of everything we seem to be experiencing now. We close our eyes and let go of what we seem to be seeing. We let go of the sounds that seem to be coming through our ears. We let go of the thoughts that seem to be speaking to us in our minds. And finally, we let go of the images that we seem to see coming and going in our minds. When we do all this and sink into the silence of nothingness we begin to allow opportunities for the Light of God to begin to reveal Himself to us.

In the Light we hear His loving Voice speak to us. In the Light we see and experience the reality of our true Selves reflecting back to us like the brightest of stars in the night sky. In the Light we feel an electric flow of peace and joy that suddenly flows easily through our bodies as if a light switch had been turned on. These are some of the many gifts He has in store for us. How joyful it is to experience these gifts from our Father and to realize that many more are coming with His Light that shows us the way.

"The memory of God comes to the quiet mind." T-23.I.1:1

My mind certainly is not always quiet. People to talk to, places to go, everything and anything can seem to be distracting from the quiet. Although, I am responsible for allowing it to be distracting. It seems that the mind, the ego part of the mind that is, likes to project the past onto the present moment. It doesn't matter who or what it is. And when this happens, I am not responding from a place of peace. Instead, I have been imprinted with egoic reactions that seem to be out of my control. But that is not the case. Everything that crosses my path, the seeming lessons, are merely the golden opportunities for me to join with Jesus or the Holy Spirit. It is the opportunity to remember God as I remain in the here and now. Some would say that I need to get to the core of the what and the why of my responses. The only response that works for me is to step back, quiet the mind, if even for a second, and to take the Hand of the Divine. I had forgotten Who I was but in the joining I can remember. I can see that I am surrounded by Love, safe in God always. I had forgotten my Father, but He has not forgotten me. The Holy Spirit will listen to me as He waits for my inquiry of the Truth. Truth brings me the joy, the joy brought about by the simple remembering to be in the present memory of God.

I hold a new born baby in my arms; I remember God
I splash in the pool with a 3 y.o. and giggle and giggle and remember God
I run through the sprinkler with my 5 y.o. grand-daughter and remember God
I walk in the forests and let the gentle spring wind whirl around me and I remember God
I hold my mom in my arms as she's making her transition and smiling; I remember God
I lie on the grass and look up at the clear blue sky; the sun warming me and I remember God
I sit still and I remember God
I swing on a swing clear up to the sky and I remember God
I feel grateful to feel alive and I remember God
I am sad and talk with Spirit and feel comforted; and I remember God
Wherever I am; I pause to remember and God is there wherever I am; and I remember God.
