The Holy Spirit-Your Inner Teacher
"He is the part of your mind that always speaks for the right choice, because He speaks for God." T-5.II.8:2
We are not who we think we are. We are not bodies, we are spirit. There is a way to have experiences of this truth about ourselves, however, we need help with getting to those experiences. This help comes from our personally assigned Inner Teacher from God Himself, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is patiently waiting in our minds for us to turn to Him for help, for guidance in everything that we do. We can in fact learn how to still and quiet our chattery minds and allow Him an opportunity to speak to us. When we do, the peace and healing that we have been seeking will be ours through Him.

Decision-Making with the Holy Spirit
"Say to the Holy Spirit, 'Decide for me,' and it is done.
For His decisions are reflections of what God knows about you, and in this light, error of any kind becomes impossible." T-14.III.16:1-2
All too often we find ourselves falling into the trap of believing that we can make decisions on our own. We unconsciously believe that we know what is best for us and those around us in any given situation. And by these assumptions, we go about our days blindly making decisions, hoping in the back of our minds that we have made the best choice. Unfortunately, this habit leaves us feeling disappointed, unfulfilled and afraid to try again because we always seem to miss something. Fortunately, there is a Friend in you Who will help you with every decision that confronts you during your life. He will help you to make the correct decision every time, because He is never wrong.

Fulfilling Your Function
"God gives me only happiness. He has given my function to me. Therefore my function must be happiness." W-66.5:2-4
We learn from the world that our identity is held within our job or career. Upon meeting someone for the first time the question that is usually asked is, "What do you do?" Subtle judgments are based on this small piece of information. We have spent time and money educating ourselves in an attempt to raise the level of who we are in the world to avoid feeling a sense of worthlessness. We are happy for a little while and then unhappiness faces us once again. This occurs because we have forgotten Who we really are and what we are really here to do.

Finances and True Abundance
"Put not your faith in illusions. They will fail you. Put all your faith in the Love of God within you; eternal, changeless, and forever unfailing." W-50.4: 1-3
Everyday it seems there are requests for money. Bills arrive, the car needs fueled and repaired, someone wants a donation or we meet a few friends for an evening out. In the world money is a tool; spiritually money is nothing, it just is. We have put the judgment on what money is thus making it an idol, a graven image. We have judged it good or bad; or even judged ourselves as rich or poor based on how much money we have or not. This is not the abundance of God. We can transform our ideas about money with Holy Spirit's assistance. Through Him, we will come to know where our true Abundance lies.

The Sacred Healing Ground of Relationships
"The holiest of all the spots on earth is where an ancient hatred has become a present love." T-26.IX.6:1
Relationships surround us everyday. We have relationships with families, friends, partners, and spouses. Relationships exist with co-workers and even strangers that we meet. You truly desire a sense of peace and certainty, but you find yourself feeling speechless, afraid and uncertain of how to respond when uncomfortable situations come up. The Answer to every relationship problem lies in the Sacred Healing Ground within you. You can call upon Him in your mind anytime you need help and He will tell you what to do and how to respond in any challenging situation.

Be As a Little Child
"Salvation can be thought of as a game that happy children play. It was designed by One Who loves His children, and Who would replace their fearful toys with joyous games, which teach them that the game of fear is gone." W-153.12:1-2
When we come to look at the world through the eyes of a child, we come to look at ourselves with forgiveness and see the innocence that is truly there. As we do this, we see the innocence in our brothers as well. We release the outgrown toys that we have clung onto so tightly; the pain, the fear, the regret, and the guilt, and exchange them for the happy game of salvation. This is what our Father wants for us. He wants the Son of God to remember to laugh and experience His Joy. By closely working with the Holy Spirit, you shall.

Anxiety and Depression - This Need Not Be
"If you are trusting in your own strength, you have every reason to be apprehensive, anxious and fearful. God is your safety in every circumstance. His Voice speaks for Him in all situations and in every aspect of all situations, telling you exactly what to do to call upon His strength and His protection." W-47.1:1, 3:1-2
At some point in our lives, we may experience depression or a touch of anxiety. When these occur, we feel so alone and separate. We may want to hide from the world, cry, or wring our hands with worry. In joining with the Holy Spirit, you will begin to see Him as your Inner Therapist. He is the one that you will find that you can confide in all of your dark secrets and beliefs about yourself. He listens, He cares and He will not fail you. In taking the time to just stop and breathe deeply, and to offer a little willingness to join with Him, you will find the relief that you have sought for so long. When you create an open and honest dialogue with Him, you will finally see the dawn and experience peace. You will receive the healing as you look at everything in your life with Him. You will find that in fact you were never alone.

Freedom From Death and Grief
"Unshaken does the Holy Spirit look on what you see; on sin and pain and death, on grief and separation and on loss. Yet does He know one thing must still be true; God is still Love, and this is not His Will." W-99.5:4-5
When death occurs with someone close to us, we feel sad, we cry, we seem to experience loss. In this we merely seek comfort, support and a listening ear. We need gentle reminders of the truth of the Love of God that is always present even when our loved ones form is not.
The Holy Spirit is always present. He waits for us to invite Him in to soothe our troublesome mind and to lay in His Everlasting Arms. He will help us to realize the peace that is within us always.

The Great Light
"If you but see the little spark you will learn of the greater light, for the Rays are there unseen. Perceiving the spark will heal, but knowing the light will create." T-10.IV.8:3-4
The Light in you is one of the greatest experiences that you will discover in your awakening journey. The Light is Love and Truth. Many people do not realize that it is quite possible to train their minds to learn how to perceive the visible Light of Christ within themselves. Nor do they realize the healing impact this Gift of Light will have on their lives and the world as they learn how to perceive truly.
As Jesus tells us, “There is a light in you the world cannot perceive. And with its eyes you will not see this light, for you are blinded by the world. Yet you have eyes to see it. It is there for you to look upon. It was not placed in you to be kept hidden from your sight.” W-pI.189.1:1-5

Healing Addictions - The Idols of Substitute Reality
"Let not their form deceive you. Idols are but substitutes for your reality. In some way, you believe they will complete your little self, for safety in a world perceived as dangerous, with forces massed against your confidence and peace of mind. They have the power to supply your lacks, and add the value that you do not have. No idol can establish you as more than God." T-29.VIII.2:2-4, 9:10
There are many forms of illusions in the world and some of them take on the forms of addictions. We can have addictions to foods, medications, narcotics, alcohol, gambling, sex, relationships and even to emotions. One of the characteristics of addictions is the feeling of being helplessly trapped in the cycle of addictive behavior. Another is that people feel so guilty and ashamed about their inability to stop the behaviors on their own that they hide in denial or are too afraid to seek help, so they quietly suffer with their problem, sometimes for a lifetime.
All too often this pattern leads people into a slow downward spiral of depression that sadly ends in rock-bottom crashes. The main reason why people get caught in these patterns is because they believe that they have become something that they are not, and they believe that they are alone. Very early in our lives, the ego thought system taught us to believe that we were limited and defective bodies. We were taught that we were not whole, that we had character defects and, if we did not get it right, we would not be accepted and loved by others.

Angels Among Us
"Around you angels hover lovingly, to keep away all darkened thoughts of sin, and keep the light where it has entered in." T-26.IX.7:1
Traditionally, the concept of Angelic Beings surrounding and protecting us has brought a deep level of comfort for us here in the world. These Angels and Helpers of all names are truly Thoughts of God, just as we are, loving us, teaching us and bringing us peace.
As Helen Schucman wrote in her book of poems, The Gifts of God:
Angels are Thoughts that come from God to you.
Secure in their protection may you rest;
Quiet in the certainty that comes from them,
At peace in mind and heart and holiness;
Unmindful of the world, and sure that they
Are with you, watching over you, and fixed
In their determination to maintain
Your mind at rest within the peace of God.
Living the Spirit-Led Life:
Sex and Romance
"Physical impulses are misdirected miracle impulses. All real pleasure comes from doing God's Will. Do not deceive yourself into believing that you can relate in peace to God or to your brothers with anything external." T-1.VII.1:3-4,7
We come to learn that seeking outside of ourselves for happiness, pleasure, or peace in any form simply does not work. Special relationships are attached to these external ideas. According to the ego, love must be found outside of me. But, Holy Spirit tells us that Love is found inside of us. We join in true intimacy with Him and He speaks to us of God’s Love for us. That is True Romance, the Love of God for His Beloved Son.

Living the Spirit-Led Life:
Releasing Anger
"God's peace can never come where anger is, for anger must deny that peace exists." M-20.3:3
The tension looms in our body, our head is pounding, our teeth are clenched, our muscles tighten. Inside we feel frustration, irritation, rage, upset, and anger. Sometimes these emotions seem to arise from nowhere, they seem to take us from surprise and we feel out of control, yet they are all stemming from the same source, the ego and its focus on fear. We do not notice this fear when we are stuck in traffic or when we break a prized heirloom or when we are in an argument with a loved one or friend or even when our teenager is out past his curfew.
At these times, we choose to focus outside of ourselves and blame an outside source, any outside source, person, place or thing, will do. We do not see the walls of separation that are built with the result of our cutting words and angry gestures. But we do not have to deal with this fear that arises alone. The Holy Spirit is there within us to assist us with releasing all of the fearful and separated thoughts that lead to our expressions of anger. We can, with His guidance and help, realize a life of peace. We can have a gentleness and a calmness in our life. All that is required is our commitment and willingness to decide upon another way and work directly with Him.

Experiencing the Voice
"The limits the world places on communication are the chief barriers to direct experience of the Holy Spirit, Whose Presence is always there and Whose Voice is available but for the hearing." M-25.2:5
The Voice for God can be heard through our willingness to listen to only this Voice. We are distracted by the ego’s voice that promises us happiness, but it never suffices. Choosing the Voice for God is the happiest experience that we can have. We come to know that it is a choice, and we can choose to listen to Him at any time in any situation. We know It’s the Voice of God because the feeling of Love and Peace are welcomed with It.

Awaken to Joy
"The light that belongs to you is the light of joy." T-5.in.1:4
Jesus shares with us another way of looking at ourselves and reawakening the Truth within us. He shares, “Light and joy and peace abide in you. Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God.” That tells us that there is a light within us that fills us with joy the instant we unite with It. This Light of Joy is available anytime you need It to heal sadness, fear, depression, worry and anxiety. When perceived, your Inner Light will bring strength and flash these painful experiences, replacing them with a feeling of peace, joy and happiness.

Remembering God
"Give up gladly everything that would stand in the way of your remembering, for God is in your memory." T-10.II.2:4
The memory of God is only merely forgotten and can easily be recovered with our deepest desire. The Holy Spirit is our Guide to remembering. By allowing Him to remember for us, the barriers to Love are gently brushed away. Our part is that we must have the willingness to allow Him to do so. When we are mindful and aware, we realize that the pain, anxiety, or discomfort we are experiencing is driving the memory further away from us. The conscious effort of the joining with the Holy Spirit is what will truly bring the peace our soul relies on.

Forgiveness - The Key to Happiness
"Forgiveness is the key, but who can use a key when he has lost the door for which the key was made, and where alone it fits? Therefore we make distinctions, so that prayer can be released from darkness into light." S-2.I.9: 2-3
As we work with the Holy Spirit, we will learn that the truth is that we place the shackles upon our very selves when we hold judgments and grievances, insisting that our unforgiveness is justified. We place the blame on our brothers, hiding from the guilt within. This only keeps us in prison and in pain within our own minds. Freedom comes when we can release the shackles by our continued connection with the Holy Spirit. He is the one that can do the forgiveness for us. All we need is the little willingness for His Help.

Resting in God
"In timelessness you rest, while time goes by without its touch upon you, for your rest can never change in any way at all. You rest today. And as you close your eyes, sink into stillness." W-109.5: 2-4
In today’s society, we have become accustomed to filling our daily schedule with many activities and meetings. Because of this, we tend to feel stressed and out of sorts much of the time. To solve our problems, we plan vacations in beautiful settings, believing that this vacation will be the one that will bring relief from our daily workload and hectic lives. This will be the needed experience to bring us the rest and relaxation that we so desire. Unfortunately, what we usually find upon our return is more stress and more tension and more work that has piled up while we were away. We end up working harder and longer hours to make up for the time that we were away. We become driven by guilt.
Plainly, we have forgotten how to truly rest. We also have forgotten what true rest is. True rest comes from the connection with our Father. This is what the Holy Spirit can teach us by our connection with Him. Through our joining with Him, He will show us that we can indeed achieve peace and rest in all situations and experiences. We do not need to escape to another physical place, but to simply give up our stresses and burdens unto Him. He is there awaiting our slightest invitation to shine upon us the peace of God.

The Holy Relationship
"A holy relationship starts from a different premise. Each one has looked within and seen no lack. Accepting his completion, he would extend it by joining with another, whole as himself. He sees no difference between these selves, for differences are only of the body." T-22.in.3.1-4
In a holy relationship, both have recognized their True Self within oneself and within the other. Each stays focused on the healing and learning that is necessary for their own personal and spiritual growth, yet in the joining the opportunities for higher learning are present. The holy relationship is not necessarily a “romantic” relationship. A holy relationship is with any two who have come to know their sacred perfection and desire extension.
The healing of any relationship takes place in the mind. With forgiveness as our goal, we can join with anyone, here in the present, or in our past, living or passed on, and still achieve the learning and the healing that the relationship has presented for us. Our relationship mirrors what is going on within our minds. Joining with the Holy Spirit will bring us the peace that we seek if it is conflict that we experience. The ultimate holy relationship is with the Divine and when we join with the Divine we can make all of our relationships holy and a temple to the Truth.

Body Image vs. Self-Image
"You will identify with what you think will make you safe. Whatever it may be, you will believe that it is one with you. Your safety lies in truth, and not in lies. Identify with love, and you are safe. Identify with love, and you are home. Identify with love, and find your Self." W-pII.5.5
We seem attached to the body that we walk around in everyday for our entire life. We believe that it is our identity. We think that the body makes us safe and so we do whatever we can to protect it, extends its life and keep it alive with exercise or natural foods.
Identifying with the Love that we are is our natural state. It will always bring us the safety and serenity that we are looking for. With Holy Spirit we will come to know of our perfect Self.
Living the Spirit-Led Life:
The Walk of Trust
"You have very little trust in me as yet, but it will increase as you turn more and more often to me instead of to your ego for guidance." T-4.VI.3
If you stopped for a moment, went within and asked yourself how many things you have worried about over the last day or so, you may find a list long enought to give Santa Claus a run for his money. Think about the burden this is placing upon your mind, body and spirit. How draining it is from experiencing a happy and free life from worries and fear! Wouldn't it be nice to wake up each morning feeling happy and free of all concerns? There is a way to develop this kind of peace, freedom and joy in your life.
