Kindness Retreat by Mike Markin

There were dogs on the fire, and then some S’mores. There was spaghetti with homemade sauce, homemade spinach dip, and some yummy salad. However, this was not our true sustenance this weekend. The true sustenance came from the sharing and learning that took place. The open sharing showed me things about myself that I could easily deny until I heard something similar shared by another. The learning set me on another path that I never want to return from-the path to God for us all. The way down this path, as long as I still think I am here on earth, is through kindness.

Being unkind to myself, or others, builds a wall between us. This wall keeps us from God. Unkindness comes from being fearful: defensive, untrusting, self-centered, holier than thou, I cannot allow my fear of sickness to push me into making others feel guilty about being sick. I cannot force them down my path. All I can do is offer a friend to walk along side them on their path and we will end up on the correct path-TOGETHER!!! As the course says, God will tell me what to say and do-In this I can rest assured. I just need to be willing to be there for my sibling.

The most important place to start is with me. I cannot give that which I do not possess. Therefore, it is time to allow myself to have the happiness, and peace that is inside me. Then, this will spread to everyone. Happiness does not mean a rapturous bliss. To me it means contentment and peace without the downs or the highs.

Expectations draw me away from my contentment every time. Therefore, my intention is “I am content”. I will not ask wish for it, or want for it. These are doubts and expectations about the outcome. Jesus will let me want and wish forever. I need to realize it is already there for the finding for God has already given it. I do not have to ask for it. My function is to realize it is there and to share it with the world through my intentions.

Once again, I had a great time at a MiraclesOne event. I love Deb and Paul’s philosophy on practical applications, as well as kindness, and how they live their lives in that manner. I have learned so much about God and myself during our “adventures” together. I hope to share some experiences with you as well.
