Lesson 66 - My happiness and my function are one. 

   Let us remind ourselves today that there is only one way to find true happiness and that is found by going within. The ego part of our mind is very good at presenting us with illusions that we think will bring us happiness. It is all a facade to continue to delay us and distract us from remembering to go within. Let's practice observing our thoughts and beliefs today, especially the ones that become our happy goals. Let us practice being truly honest with ourselves and recognizing that the ego's happy goals never really do bring us the experience of true happiness. For example, the ego may teach us that we love to go to a particular restaurant to have a meal. The ego may teach us that the food is wonderfully prepared there and the atmosphere is fun. The ego may teach us that pursuing another job with a higher wage will bring us happiness. The list goes on. Let us recognize that these are delaying maneuvers of the ego.

   The Holy Spirit within us is the only one who knows the way; the correct choices we should make. He is the only one who can lead us to truly happy experiences within the dream while we awaken. Let us remember not to substitute the ego's happy goals with the goal of finding your Friend the Christ within yourself and following His direction. When we discover our Friend within ourselves, we will discover a gift of happiness that is automatically given to us in that holy instant. The moment that we truly let go of all illusions within our mind is the moment of true forgiveness. Forgiveness brings us the experience of the Voice for God, the light of our Friend, happiness, certain direction and joy. This is the experience that we are truly seeking to find within ourselves and in our lives. The experience of knowing that we are not alone and that we have a Friend who is with us and will help us to have a happy life.

   Let us remember to work with our Friend the Holy Spirit today to help us practice mindful observance of the seeming happy goals the ego offers us today. Perhaps it would be even helpful to write them down as we go through our day so that at the end of the day we could review them and remind ourselves one last time that none of these could ever replace the gift of happiness that comes from finding the light and guidance of our Friend that resides within us. Holy Spirit, please help us to remember how to find You now. Thank you. Amen.
